![]() So you liked the cold biases at 26 and 28 per tube. It has less to do with power tube headroom but rather the entire amplifier's headroom. Moral of the story is that you are altering the entire signal and amplifier when biasing at different levels. ![]() (Yes 6L6 types bias much lower than 6CA7/E元4 types.) I tried lowering my Bassman to 24 and even 22mA and it just starting loosing detail and sound like ass compared to a good bias level. My 6L6GC/5881 at around 470VDC stay around 28-31mA. I really do not like going belwo 34mA much less 28mA. My E元4 at around 460VDC stay around 38-41mA. The amplifiier looses some detail and bottom frequencies do not sit right. The location of plug-in files depend on your settings during installation. Still I cannot stand to go too close to crossover region. 1) Launch Reaper, go to ‘Options -> Preferences -> Plug-ins -> VST’ 2) Make sure the correct location is added to the VST plug-in paths text box. But too cold and the bias point is too low putting out less power and causing the user to up the volumes for more signal which in turn makes the signal dirtier. The bias is colder and the B+ goes up a little giving the power tubes more headroom. The thing is the power tubes are now putting out more power, quicker, so you end up lowering preamp signals and turning down the overall volume which in turn keeps the signal cleaner.Ī colder bias gives more headroom but when bias point is too low the operation gets into crossover distortion. A hotter bias drops the B+ a little and places the incoming signal closer to that level which actually decreases headroom of the power tubes. It just provides a clearer more detailed signal up front. To me that is to close or into crossover distortion for those amplifiers.Ī hotter bias does not give more headroom. Editing is simply a matter of selecting the amp to be edited in the Bias FX 2 signal path, pasting it into Bias Amp 2, editing it, and pasting the result. couldnt fix it.So do you like the cold biases at 26 and 28 per tube? You like crossover distortion? The amplifier editing process is much simpler in Bias FX 2 Mobile, as both it and Bias Amp 2 Mobile have dedicated onscreen buttons that copy and paste amp models from one to the other. I was excited about guitarrig 6 but for me (hss strat in a focusrite scarlett solo) it has a lot of problems, lots of looping high pitched humming/background noise. Advanced Guitar & Bass Amp Modeling Software. i partially solved by adding a compressor+noise gate to all high gain presets but they dont sound as nice as biasfx imo. you can fix it by adding a noise gate, but it kills the sustain of the notes. although if i put high gain presets on guitarrig it sounds terrible, lots of humming. "there will be oil" comes second, followed by "arpeggio delays" and "left alone". "washington"preset on guitarrig5 is the best thing ever. sound is much harsher to me but to learn it works better, i can pickup mistakes faster, record and tune better. In short, i use biasfx when i just want my sound to be good (lots of great gilmour/buckethead/metal presets out of the box),Īnd use guitarrig5 when i want to practice, so most of the tine. hell i can even save the audio file and use it on top of the videocamera recording to have a better audio in videos. i can transpose the recording to different tunings and tempos. i can test different presets on the same recording. BIAS FX Have you ever wondered what powers all the amazing tone youre getting out of your Spark amp Well, heres a little secret: Its BIAS FX 2. I can record the signal before or after the effects chain. on guitarrig i can record as long as i want. biasfx premium allows like 20 secs of looping. but the best thing in guitarrig 5 is the recording function. but the best thing in guitarrig 5 is the recording function. a metronome (biasfx doesnt, i was so disappointed, how hard can it be to add a metronome in 2020) -a much better tuner imo -a lot more 'strange' effects (although you really need to watch tutorials to understand how to correctly set them up). a lot more "strange" effects (although you really need to watch tutorials to understand how to correctly set them up). a metronome (biasfx doesnt, i was so disappointed, how hard can it be to add a metronome in 2020) ![]() presets always sound good with little tweaking required. in short, i prefer the way it sounds, and doesnt make as much humming/buzzing. I can dial anything from metal to clean and it soinds good to me. I ve recently switched to bias fx, as i like the sound better.
